Behind the Scenes of Comic Collection ‘The New Adventures of Zootopia 2’
Fans everywhere are getting ready for the premiere of Zootopia 2, and the release of a new comic is creating some buzz! The New Adventures of Zootopia 2, an all-new comic collection from Papercutz, is about to debut, and joining the fun.
Inspired by both the original Zootopia and the upcoming film sequel, the book reunites Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde for a new round of cases.

There is plenty of humor, heartfelt moments, and, of course, fun.
D23 recently had an exclusive interview with author Joe Caramagna and Disney Comics art director Roberto Santillo, in which they shared how they brought Zootopia’s spirit to the book.

“Both films are about identity and trying to prove oneself,” Caramagna said. “We bring those same themes to The New Adventures of Zootopia 2.”
Santillo added that adapting an animated film into comic form means finding “a visual rhythm that feels true to the characters” while still giving readers something new to explore- not an easy task.
The two shared their creative processes about bringing the characters and storylines to a comic form.
Caramagna joked that he paces back and forth and speaks in the voice and mannerism of the characters.

Santillo studies the film in depth to understand the context from a visual point of view and to fully understand the characters. Then, the scenes must be structured, and a complete storyboard version is prepared

Caramagna and Santillo shared their enthusiasm for the book and how great it is to be part of the fun. They also recognize the responsibility that comes along with it.
What are the two men most excited about? They can’t wait for fans to meet some of the characters in The New Adventures in Zootopia 2 and Zootopia 2.
New characters are side by side with old favorites like Officer Clawhauser and Mayor Winddancer.
Caramagna shared that these characters “are a true testament to the depth and unlimited possibilities of the world of Zootopia, where anyone can be anything.” One of the themes they love most about the movies.

The New Adventures of Zootopia 2 arrives on October 28, and Zootopia 2 arrives in theaters on November 26.
