Disney Files New Construction Permits For Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A significant chapter in Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ history closed before our eyes earlier this year, when Muppets Courtyard and Muppet*Vision 3D closed.
For 34 years, the Muppets held court in the back of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, enthralling audiences with their unique blend of humor and good old-fashioned entertainment.

The transformation of Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis is currently underway.
At last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, however, Disney announced that Muppet Courtyard would close to make way for Monstropolis, where guests will be able to ride the Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster.

Monstropolis is on the way.
Over the course of 2025, we have watched as Muppet*Vision closed, Stage 1 Company Store was demolished, and construction of Monstropolis began.
Now, we have another update.
Two New Permits Have Been Filed
Yesterday, Walt Disney Imagineering filed two permits for the ongoing Monstropolis construction.

The documents call for general construction at the former PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s.
The work is assigned to PCL Construction Services, a common Disney World contractor.

When Monstropolis opens, Mama Melrose’s is expected to be repurposed as Harryhausen’s, a new sushi restaurant.

At this time, it is unclear what PizzeRizzo will be transformed into.
When Will Monstropolis Open?
While we will have to wait and see when Monstropolis opens, construction is clearly progressing.

I, for one, can’t wait to see what Imagineering creates.
