‘Zootopia 2’ Is Tracking Towards a MASSIVE Opening Weekend
After the disappointing release of TRON: Ares, which is now tracking towards a $100+ million loss, Disney is set to return to theaters on November 26 with Zootopia 2.
The highly-anticipated sequel to 2016’s Zootopia will reunite audiences with Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps for an adventure that follows the “twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down.”

“To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before,” the film’s synopsis explains.
A Blockbuster Debut
With six weeks to until Zootopia 2 hits theaters, we finally have our first tracking numbers for the film.

According to BoxOfficeTheory, the film is heading towards a $115 to $130 million domestic debut. That number, only accounts for its three-day opening, not the entire five-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Should Zootopia 2 be able to keep up its momentum, the film could even challenge Moana 2‘s Thanksgiving record of $139.8 million.
Disney Needs to Finish Strong
While Disney has had its share of hits in 2026, the studio’s theatrical releases this year have largely been disappointing.

The good news is, Disney still has Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash up its sleeve.
2026, then, will close out with two of the most highly anticipated films of the year. Hopefully, Disney will not only dominate the holiday box office, but also redeem what has been a lackluster year in theaters.
