Debbie Harry Reveals Which Actress She Wants to Play Her in a Biopic

With the Madonna biopic still in production, Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry has weighed in on which actress she would want to be portrayed by on the big screen.

Over the last several years, music biopics have become a popular and lucrative genre. Last year, Timothy Chalamet earned praise for his performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

Harry Wants to See Florence Pugh Tell Her Story

While there is no indication that a Blondie biopic is currently in the works, Debbie Harry has singled out Florence Pugh as the actress that she would like to see play her.

“If it were somebody like Florence Pugh, I would be in heaven,” Harry told The Sunday Times. “I just think she’s a great actor and she could do anything.”

For her part, Pugh has previously mentioned Harry as the celebrity she would like to portray.

“Blondie, just because she’s so cool,” the actress told Entertainment Weekly in 2020.

Pugh, of course, is perhaps best known for her role as Yelana Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She has also starred in numerous critically acclaimed films, including Midsommar, A Good Person, and We Live in Time.

Will We See a Blondie Biopic?

While it remains to be seen if a Blondie biopic will come to fruition, the time may finally be right.

Harry released Face It: A Memoir in 2019, recalling her life story.

Perhaps then, Harry (and Pugh) will get their wish after all.
