Disneyland Paris Hotels Turn Leftover Soap into Hope for Families in Need
October 15th was Global Handwashing Day, and Disneyland Paris is spotlighting a quiet but meaningful initiative happening behind the scenes at its hotels.
Thanks to the efforts of the HOPI team (Hotel Operation Projects & Implementation), used soap bars from Disney Hotels are collected, recycled, and given new life to help families in need across Europe.
Soap and Sustainability

Since 2022, Disney Housekeeping teams have gathered barely or never-used soaps. These soaps are then delivered to SapoCycle, a non-profit organization that transforms discarded soap into new, hygienic bars.
The process not only saves the soaps but also supports inclusivity. The recycling is done by individuals employed through ESAT, a French organization offering work opportunities for people with disabilities.

Each bar undergoes a careful transformation. The used soap is sorted and grated to remove its surface, then ground, melted, filtered, and molded into new bars.
The results are amazing and have a huge impact! Almost ten tons of waste have been converted into 99,000 new soap bars, which have been distributed to 24,000 families.
Environmental Commitment

This is just one of many programs that align with Disney’s broader environmental commitment. Additional projects include the ongoing rollout of liquid soap dispensers across its hotels to reduce single-use waste.
