Disney Deepens Connection to Local Communities as the 2025 Alaskan Cruise Season Comes to an End
To commemorate the end of the 2025 Alaska cruise season, Disney Cruise Line Cast Members from the Disney Wonder visited the ports of Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan to connect with locals and provide support to local communities.
As part of the Disney VoluntEAR program, cast and crew members visited an assisted living facility with Captain Mickey Mouse, participated in a food pantry restocking effort, and hosted local Junior Achievement Students for a ship tour.

“This is our strength at Disney Cruise Line: we can get closer to each local community we visit,” said Kana, Disney Wonder guest services crew member and Disney VoluntEAR. “The reason I volunteer is to get closer to the places that we go to and become friends with the people. It feels really good to be part of a company where I can do that.”
An End-of-Summer Celebration
The fun kicked off at the Sitka Pioneer Home, where residents, children, and families from a local school enjoyed an end-of-summer celebration.

The event even featured a surprise appearance by Captain Mickey Mouse!
“At the heart of Disney Cruise Line is the happiness we create and we’re able to do that for our guests every day, but to go the extra mile and do it for the community is something really special,” said Joshua, Disney Wonder assistant cruise director and Disney VoluntEAR.

Junior Achievement Students Board the Wonder
While the Wonder was docked in Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka, local Junior Achievement students were invited aboard the ship for a special tour.
The students spent time with crew members and learned about their career pathways. Also highlighted were the ways that sustainability, inclusivity, and exceptional service are a core part of the Disney Cruise Line experience.

“We’re thrilled to play a part in helping develop, grow, and champion young adults to be the next voices of the maritime industry,” said Simpson, Disney Wonder learning and development manager. “We hope that giving the students a glimpse of our positions at Disney Cruise Line they now know all the steps they can take to start their career journey, and anything is possible.”
Partnership With Spruce Root
Finally, for the second year in a row, Disney Cruise Line partnered with Spruce Root to contribute to the Path to Prosperity program, which helps Alaska Native entrepreneurs and their businesses.

Through Spruce Root, individuals receive training, mentorship, and resources to help build sustainable, community-focused businesses.
All in all, it was yet another example of Disney’s commitment to giving back.
