Jerry Bruckheimer Says ‘National Treasure 3’ Is “Getting Closer”
Early last year, National Treasure fans got the news they had long been waiting for when producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that National Treasure 3 was in development.
As crazy as it seems, it has been 18 years since National Treasure: Book of Secrets, meaning fans have waited for nearly two decades for another adventure through history.

Despite Nicolas Cage’s previous reservations, Bruckheimer said last year that the plan was for the franchise’s principal stars to return.
“There’s a very, very good writer writing it right now who tends to write really good movies and if the script comes out close to good and you can see the finish line from where you are we’re making the movie,” he said last May.
Now, we have another update.
“We’re Getting Closer”
During a recent interview with The Wrap, Bruckheimer was asked about National Treasure 3.

“We’re getting closer on that,” he said.
While the producer did not provide many updates on the film, he confirmed that the plan was for National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub and Cage to return.
The Value of ‘Edge of History’
Additionally, Bruckheimer weighed in on National Treasure: Edge of History, confirming that National Treasure 3 would return to the story of the main franchise. Nevertheless, the streaming series served its purpose.

“No, it was completely different,” Bruckheimer said of the spin-off. “We want to keep the name alive in the public eye [and] the zeitgeist.”
