Walt Disney World License Plate Sales Have Raised More Than $5 Million For Make-A-Wish
For nearly 45 years, The Walt Disney Company and the Make-A-Wish Foundation have teamed up to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
As the largest wish-granter in the world, Disney leverages its beloved characters, popular parks, and sports connections to make magic a reality and provide kids with an unforgettable experience.

Earlier this year, the company celebrated the granting of its 170,000th wish!

In addition to granting wishes, Disney supports Make-A-Wish through numerous other initiatives, including the sale of vanity license plates.

Initially released in 2021 to coincide with Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, the Disney specialty plates have become among the most popular in Florida.
Last year, Disney announced that the $25 specialty plate fee, which drivers pay for the Disney design, had raised over $3 million for Make-A-Wish.

Now, Disney has updated those figures.
A Major Milestone
Today, Walt Disney World announced that its specialty license plates have raised $5 million for Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida.

Those funds have helped grant more than 600 wishes for kids with critical illnesses, including Maddie, a wish kid from Melbourne.
Introducing Maddie
10-year-old Maddie has long dreamed of meeting Disney’s Princesses, who have helped inspire her during her battle with leukemia.

After hearing Maddie’s wish, Disney jumped into action, planning a royal day for the young girl at Walt Disney World.
The fun kicked off with a regal meeting with Rapunzel and Flynn, who then rode the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel with Maddie.

“This trip to Walt Disney World means so much to our family and Maddie. It’s so special to see her playing and having fun with her sister around the parks. I can tell she’s just so happy to be here and doing something fun outside of the hospital,” Maddie’s mom said.
From there, they went on a search to find Pascal through Fantasyland.

After frolicking with Rapunzel and Flynn, Maddie got to show off her strength by pulling the sword from the stone!

Later, Maddie got to journey under the sea with Ariel and Eric, where she learned Sebastian’s signature crab walk.
“We are so grateful for the Disney Specialty License Plate and how it helps grant wishes like Maddie’s — wishes that inspire hope, strength, and joy for the entire family during some of their darkest times,” said Anne Cuba, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. “A Disney wish has the power to transform a child’s life. We always say that wishes are more than just a moment, they mark a turning point in a child’s journey and provide memories for years to come.”
