PHOTOS: One FINAL Look at Animation Courtyard & Star Wars Launch Bay!
Today marks a huge day for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Disney World Resort has tons of incredible projects underway around the parks, leaving fans buzzing with excitement. However, the ability to build and create new offerings often requires the removal of existing ones.
That’s the case over in Hollywood Studios, where guests are saying “goodbye” to Animation Courtyard before it’s transformed into a reimagined, animated space. Let’s get one final look.
Final Look at Animation Courtyard
This is the final day guests can visit Hollywood Studios’ Animation Courtyard in its current iteration before the location is updated with new offerings and experiences.
We were somewhat surprised to see low crowds and wait times in the area. We fully expected tons of guests to take over the location to get their own final look.
There’s still no confirmation on where the area’s characters will be moved to. But today, there were plenty of familiar faces out to meet guests, including Mickey…
…Chip ‘n Dale…
…Vampirina…
…and Donald and Daisy.
We visited Disney Jr. Play and Dance!, which is currently hosting the “Get Animated” dance party.
Disney Jr. Play and Dance! is permanently closing to make way for new experiences.
Star Wars Launch Bay will also be permanently closing to transform into a place where guests can draw and get animated with new experiences. This building will also house the iconic Mickey Sorcerer hat we’ve seen in the concept art.
Star Wars Launch Bay will be sorely missed by fans of the franchise.
The location offered tons of galactic experiences, including exhibits with film props and models, and meet-and-greets with characters like Chewbacca…
…Darth Vader…
…and BB-8.
Here’s the final look at the courtyard, which will be redesigned with inspiration from The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.
Here’s the video we posted to Instagram, capturing our final look at the area:
