The National Hurricane Center Now Forecasts That Hurricane Gabrielle Will Form This Weekend
Earlier this week, Tropical Storm Gabrielle became this season’s seventh named storm after it intensified from a tropical depression.
Now, the National Hurricane Center is forecasting that Gabrielle will grow into the season’s next hurricane this weekend.

The latest update was released at 5 AM this morning, when the National Hurricane Center noted that Gabrielle had 50 mph sustained winds.

The institution now predicts that Gabrielle will grow into a Category 1 hurricane by Sunday and a Category 2 hurricane by Monday.
At this time, it looks like the hurricane will primarily impact the Caribbean.

“A gradual turn toward the northwest is forecast by tonight, followed by a north-northwestward motion by Saturday night and northward motion by Sunday night,” forecasters said. “On the forecast track, the center of Gabrielle is expected to pass east of Bermuda Sunday night and Monday.”
Another Named Storm May Be Brewing
In addition to Gabrielle, the National Hurricane Center is also monitoring another system in the Atlantic Ocean, which they are giving a 20% chance to develop into a named storm.
If the storm does develop, it would be dubbed Humberto.

At this time, it is unclear if Gabrielle or Humberto will affect Walt Disney World or (more likely) Disney Cruise Line operations.
