PHOTOS: The Restaurant Marrakesh Sign Has Finally Been Removed at EPCOT
For nearly 25 years, Restaurant Marrakesh was a hidden treasure in EPCOT’s Morocco pavilion, providing guests with an authentic Moroccan dining experience.
Opening with the rest of the Morocco pavilion in 1984, the restaurant was tiled by artisans from the court of the Moroccan king.

In addition to providing a table service meal, the restaurant featured a two-piece band and a belly dancer. For those who journeyed to the back of the Morocco pavilion, the restaurant was an EPCOT culinary oasis.
The Restaurant Closed in 2020
Never the most popular restaurant in World Showcase, Restaurant Marrakesh closed in 2020 in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unlike the rest of Walt Disney World, the restaurant would never reopen.
Since 2020, the Restaurant Marrakesh building has been used for numerous events. Earlier this summer, the location once again reopened as a Passholder-exclusive lounge as part of V.I.PASSHOLDER Days.

With that being said, it has long been clear that the restaurant would not reopen.
The Restaurant Marrakesh Entrance Sign Has Been Removed
After five years of inactivity, Disney has finally removed the Restaurant Marrakesh entrance sign.

While the restaurant’s name still appears on he side of the building, the removal of the sign should clear up some guest confusion.

At this time, Disney has not announced what the building will be used for going forward.

Perhaps, however, the removal of the sign indicates that Disney has plans for the former Restaurant Marrakesh location.
