WATCH: Smoke Seen During Paint the Night as ‘Little Mermaid’ Float Malfunctions
If you have ever had the opportunity to take in Paint the Night at Disneyland, you know the parade is a colorful celebration of Disney’s films, characters, and songs.
The dazzling processional first lit up Disneyland Park in 2015 for the resort’s 60th anniversary. In 2018, the parade shifted to Disney California Adventure for a limited-time run — then, it was gone.
Last October, Disneyland revealed that the fan-favorite parade would be making a grand return to The Happiest Place on Earth as part of the resort’s 70th Celebration.
Since returning earlier this year, fans have flocked to see Paint the Night again. Unfortunately, during the parade’s last performance, things did not go as planned.
The Little Mermaid Float Malfunction
During the Wednesday night presentation of Paint the Night, the procession’s Little Mermaid float experienced a power issue, resulting in the need for a tow.

Unfortunately, while the float was being carried along, a complication with the brakes led to “visible smoke being seen.”
The malfunction required Disneyland to halt the parade, and guests in the area were evacuated.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
The Parade Will Be Performed Tonight
According to Disneyland officials, Paint the Night will be performed tonight as planned.
