Flights Delayed at Orlando International Airport As the FAA Issues a Ground Stop
Passengers traveling in and out of Orlando today should expect delays and cancellations after a ground stop was issued for Orlando International Airport (MCO) by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
According to the FAA’s National Airspace System, the ground stop was put in place at 12:28 PM ET and is expected to last until at least 2 PM ET. There is a 30%-60% chance that the stop gets extended.

What Caused the Ground Stop?
While it remains to be seen how long the ground stop lasts, we do know the reason behind it.

According to the FAA, a Central Florida radar issue has caused the problems.
“The FAA is slowing departures at Orlando International Airport due to a radar issue at the Central Florida Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON),” the FAA said in a statement.

“Technicians are working to address the problem. You can find real-time flight delay information at www.fly.faa.gov.”
MCO Warns That Airline Operations Are Being Affected
For their part, MCO took to social media to warn that the ground stop was affecting airline operations, flight schedules, and baggage deliveries.
Advisory: Our airport is currently under a ground stop due to an FAA equipment issue: https://t.co/vm0yMYHS23. This may affect airline operations, including flight schedules and baggage delivery. For the latest updates, please check directly with your airline.
