The Sphere Has Discussed Bringing Disney Films to Las Vegas
Since opening in September 2023, the Las Vegas Sphere has become the premier destination to see concerts.
Seating 17,600, the modern-day marvel features a 160,000 square foot wraparound interior screen, a revolutionary sound system, and in-theater effects to immerse guests in a living, breathing digital world.

While the Las Vegas Sphere gained popularity for hosting multimedia concerts by bands such as The Dead & Company, The Eagles, the Backstreet Boys, and more, this fall, it is a movie that is now making waves.
‘The Wizard of Oz’ Has Been a Game Changer
Starting August 28, the Sphere has played a new version of the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the film has been a massive success for the venue, delivering up to $2 million in ticket sales per day. When all is said and done, the Sphere expects to surpass $1 billion in Wizard of Oz revenue.

Needless to say, the Sphere is now looking to other film studios for more content.
What About Disney?
A new report by Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw has revealed that Sphere owner James Dolan has been in negotiations with Disney for the rights to play some of the studio’s films.

Among the titles that Dolan has shown interest in is Star Wars, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2027.
Unfortunately, according to the Bloomberg report, Disney and Dolan have been unable to reach an agreement as the Mouse House reportedly wants creative control over the Sphere version of its films.

Nevertheless, it will be an interesting story to keep up on.
