Is Disney Developing a Revival of ‘The Muppet Show’…?
The Muppets may have lost their home at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but it appears that Disney has big plans for the iconic troupe.
Just weeks after we learned that The Muppets were getting ready to make their Broadway debut, recent postings suggest that there may be plans for a new version of The Muppet Show.

As first reported by Tough Pigs, a listing from the Film & Television Industry Alliance seems to confirm that a new Muppet series is in the works.
Here is what we know.
A New Muppet Show?
The listing notes that the show is being developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg of Point Grey Productions.

Additionally, The Jim Henson Company is named as part of the production team.
“The Muppet Show pilot is set to reintroduce the beloved characters with a fresh twist, blending classic charm with new comedic sketches. The project aims to capture the heart and humor that made the original a cultural icon,” the listing explains.

The Ins and Outs
Before we dive further into the details of the new posting, it is essential to note that nothing has been officially announced.

With that being said, Disney has been attached to Rogen and Point Grey Pictures on previous projects, including a Figment film and a Darkwing Duck spinoff of the DuckTales revival. Obviously, neither of those projects has come to fruition.
The inclusion of The Jim Henson Company is also fascinating, as the company was not part of the previous Muppets series, Muppets Mayhem.

Finally, an earlier posting for the project noted that the new Muppet Show was being developed for Fox, not ABC.
While this has not been confirmed, it would be an interesting wrinkle in the project’s development.

Based on what we know, Muppet fans have every reason to get excited. Nevertheless, we will have to wait for an official announcement before jumping the gun.
