So far, we’ve checked out the goods over at Brew-Wing Lab, Sunshine Seasons, Flavors from Fire, and more.

If you’re stopping by the Germany pavilion on your Food & Wine Festival stroll, you’re probably making a beeline for the official Germany booth. But don’t forget that there’s another festival food in this charming German square, and you can find it over at Sommerfest for the first time this year!

Sommerfest
This year, Sommerfest offers a SINGLE, brand-new menu item: the Zwiebelkuchen. Just in case you were wondering, that’s a German onion cake with caramelized onions, bacon, herbs, and a savory custard.

For reference, here’s a look at the menu:

Menu
Priced at $9.79, the Zwiebelkuchen is basically a custard with cooked eggs, ham, and herbs.
However, there are TONS of onions in this one. So much so that it’s almost reminiscent of French onion soup with caramelized onions.

If you happen to LOVE onions, this one is definitely for you. On the other hand, if you’re someone who generally picks onions out of your food, you should probably steer clear.

Otherwise, it’s delicious and reminds me of something you would find as a breakfast pizza or breakfast pastry in France. If you don’t mind onion breath, be sure to stop by and give it a try!
Don’t Miss Out!
