Disney+ Announces Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett Are Joining ‘Rivals’ Season 2
Disney+ is adding some serious starpower to Rivals Season 2, with both Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett joining the critically-acclaimed series.
For those who may not know, Rivals is a period comedy-drama based on the 1988 Jilly Cooper novel of the same name. Set in 1986, the series centers on the rivalry between ex-Olympian Rupert Campbell-Black and media magnate Tony, Lord Paddingham, as they battle for television dominance.
The show stars and ensemble cast that includes David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Victoria Smurfit, Alex Hassell, Nafessa Williams, Bella Baclean, Emily Atack, and Danny Dyer.

“We are utterly thrilled to have Hayley and Rupert join us to play Jilly Cooper’s legendary characters Helen and Malise Gordon. Alongside our other new wonderful actors and truly brilliant returning cast, ‘Rivals’ series two absolutely showcases the best of British and Irish talent,” Dominic Treadwell-Collins, chief creative officer of Happy Prince, said.
Since its release last October, Rivals has been lauded by critics and fans alike.
Enter Atwell and Everett
In Season 2 of Rivals, Atwell will portray Helen Gordon, Rupert Campbell-Black’s ex-wife and mother of his children.

Everett will play Malise Gordon, Helen’s husband and Campbell-Black’s former coach and mentor.
