Walt Disney World Wait Times for Second Week of August 2025
Halloween season has officially arrived!
Sure, the calendar technically still says that it’s summer and will be for another month. Walt Disney World doesn’t rely on the restrictive Gregorian calendar, though!

Disney does its own thing, and that means Halloween starts whenever park officials say so!
Last Friday, MickeyBlog chronicled the opening night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and we’re in full Pumpkin Spice mode from now through early November!

Typically, Disney crowds slow down in mid-August, though, which is why Disney has moved up the dates for the Halloween parties.
So, how were the crowds this week? Here are Walt Disney World’s wait times for the second week of August 2025.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom
During the summer, it’s become clear that Animal Kingdom has fallen behind the other Walt Disney World theme parks in terms of attendance.
This had already been the case, as this park listed an estimated attendance of 8.77 million according to the Themed Entertainment Association.

For comparison, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which once ran neck and neck with Animal Kingdom, managed 10.3 million.
Meanwhile, Magic Kingdom’s 17.72 million more than doubled the attendance at Animal Kingdom.

All that happened before Disney made its 2025 changes at the park, including the piece-by-piece closure of DinoLand USA.
So, we’re tracking a dramatic decline in demand that Encanto will immediately offset in a couple of years.

Still, for the next 18 months or so, we should expect constant low numbers at Animal Kingdom.
If you love the park, this is a benefit. You can enjoy Animal Kingdom now the way my wife and I did at Hollywood Studios in 2017.

There’s a weird advantage to construction chasing away the casuals. Anyway, here are the park’s wait times:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 63 minutes, down 18
- Na’vi River Journey – 52 minutes, down 5
- Kali River Rapids – 41 minutes, down 9
- Adventurers Outpost – 32 minutes, no change
- Expedition Everest – 31 minutes, down 10
- DINOSAUR – 22 minutes, down 12

Kali River Rapids
Overall, the average Animal Kingdom attraction came with a wait of 40 minutes, which is seven minutes less than last time.
I suspect this will be the park’s general range, give or take a few minutes, from now through mid-November.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Similarly, Hollywood Studios will be in a transitional state for the next two years.
We’re getting The Art of Disney Animation in 2026, along with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets.

Then, Monstropolis will presumably arrive in 2027, although earlier is feasible.
Until then, Hollywood Studios should prove a bit chaotic, too. However, this park’s attendance won’t drop.

Slinky Dog Dash
The sheer number of E-ticket attractions here ensures that crowds will always arrive at this park.
As proof, here are the average wait times at Hollywood Studios last month:

- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 75 minutes, down 22 minutes
- Slinky Dog Dash – 63 minutes, down 14
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 55 minutes, down 12
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 49 minutes, down 11

- Celebrity Spotlight – 13 minutes, down 2
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 10 minutes, down 5

Overall, guests stood in line for an average of 41 minutes, which is ten (!) minutes less than last time.
The combination of schools going back in session and the 110-degree heat index on multiple days appears to have had an impact.
EPCOT

At EPCOT, we’re still between festivals, with the 2025 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starting next week.
So, think of the current time as the calm before the storm.

Ostensibly, the start of the school year shouldn’t impact EPCOT, Disney World’s adult park, as much either.
Don’t get me wrong. Traffic will be down across the Disney campus with school back in session.

Adults traveling to Disney World are still gonna eat, drink, and shop their way around the World Showcase, though.
- Test Track – 76 minutes, down 11
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – 73 minutes, down 13
- Frozen Ever After – 48 minutes, down 6
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – 48 minutes, down 10
- Royal Sommerhus – 34 minutes, down 1

Overall, EPCOT guests stood in line for an average of 29 minutes, which is six minutes less than last time.
Magic Kingdom

Finally, we have the park that hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
That won’t impact average wait times much, although the early park closures do have a modest effect.

Final Thoughts

Photo: Disney
Overall, Magic Kingdom attractions required an average wait of 23 minutes, which is five minutes less than last time.
So, yes, the weather and the start of the school year undeniably hurt Walt Disney World attendance this past week.
