Disney Files a New Permit For ‘Project K’ — Here’s What We Know
If you are a frequent reader here at MickeyBlog, you know that numerous massive projects have kicked off across Walt Disney World.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama has been demolished, and work has begun on the construction of Tropical Americas. Meanwhile, Muppet Courtyard has closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to make way for Monstropolis, and Test Track 3.0 has opened at EPCOT.

Finally, there is Magic Kingdom. As of this writing, the Rivers of America have been drained, and Disney is preparing to demolish Tom Sawyer Island. In its place, the company has plans to create a Cars-themed area in Frontierland and a new Disney Villains land beyond Thunder Mountain.

The new documents call for the construction of two new buildings near the old Stolport. For those who don’t know, the Stolport area has been used by Walt Disney Imagineering since the construction of New Fantasyland. It is located near the Transportation and Ticket Center.
The latest permit refers to the infrastructure improvements as Project K, and calls for numerous improvements and expansions. In addition to the aforementioned two buildings, the new documents allow for the construction of parking areas and sidewalks, modifications to retention ponds, and the installation of utilities and drainage systems.
