Disney Celebrates 170,000th Make-A-Wish Milestone on Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary
Disney celebrated two major milestones this week: the 170,000th Disney wish with Make-A-Wish and Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.
The honor goes to 13-year-old Maddie, who is undergoing treatment for leukemia and dreams of becoming an Imagineer.

Maddie was inspired by The Imagineering Story and Behind the Attraction and wanted to meet the creative team who bring Disney parks to life.
She learned her wish was the milestone 170,000th when Make-A-Wish America President and CEO Leslie Motter and Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro surprised her at Walt Disney Imagineering headquarters.

Over two days, Maddie toured Imagineering studios, explored archives, and spoke with Imagineers from ride technology to Disney Live Entertainment.
Her visit included a Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance panel, meeting Baby Groot, and a Radiator Springs Racers walkthrough with Cars Land designer Emily O’Brien.

The fun was just beginning! At Disneyland Resort, Maddie rode attractions alongside Imagineers and met droids in Galaxy’s Edge. She was also honored during the Celebrate Happy Cavalcade.
Imagineers filled Maddie’s copy of The Imagineering Story and an additional autograph book with notes, sketches, and signatures. Maddie wanted to meet and get as many autographs from Imagineers as she could. One of the best parts for Maddie was when Leslie Iwerks signed her book in Cars Land.

Since the first official wish nearly 45 years ago, Disney has granted 170,000 wishes worldwide. The company continues to deliver joy and inspiration to children and families everywhere.
