Sure, there are LOTS of positives – like quality time, magical memories, and of course, that super enticing free-under-three thing.
Honestly, there are a MILLION reasons that it’s THE BEST idea to take your little one to Disney World. And no, they may not remember it – but YOU most definitely will!

But that’s not to say that doing Disney with little kids isn’t complicated. Or overwhelming. Or even hard work at times. There are bedtimes to consider, naptimes to schedule around, and lots of extra things to pack. I would know because I’ve been there.
The truth is, planning a magical Disney World vacation with little ones involves a fair bit of…well, planning (don’t worry, if you’re feeling nervous, MickeyTravels can help!).

Fortunately, there are PLENTY of things you can do (and bring!) to ensure that your trip goes as smoothly as possible – so you can relax, enjoy, and experience the magic right along with your little one.

8 Unexpected Items You Need in Your Disney World Diaper Bag
As in most things, a bit of preparation can make a WORLD of difference. And when it comes to doing Disney with babies or toddlers, preparation is the KEY to a relaxing and fun-filled vacation. So let’s take a look at some unexpected items you need in your Disney World diaper bag!

1. Ziploc Bags
Ziploc bags are the unsung heroes of diaper bags everywhere – but I’ve always found them especially useful on my family’s Disney vacations.

Photo: Amazon
You’ll use these for wet or soiled clothes, leftover snacks, and yes, dirty diapers. Honestly, there is nothing more disgusting than throwing a smelly diaper straight into a bathroom trash can. Do us all a favor and seal those babies up before you ditch them! Sincerely, everyone.
2. Pacifier Gear
If your kiddo uses a pacifier, you already know to bring plenty (and I do mean PLENTY) of backups. But having enough pacifiers isn’t really the hard part. Nope – the hard part is keeping them clean.
Chances are you already have a pacifier clip in your bag, but I highly suggest packing a set, like this Babygoal Pacifier Clip 6 Pack, so you’re always prepared when one gets broken or lost.

Of course, even with those pacifier clips, pacifiers can still get insanely grimy. Even if they’re not falling on the floor (which they inevitably will, despite your best efforts), they’re still being touched over and over again by tiny (and often dirty!) hands.
For this reason, I always stash some Muchkin Pacifier Wipes in my bag – they’ll come in super handy, I promise.

But if it’s top-of-the-line sanitation you’re after, this GROWNSY Portable Pacifier Sanitizer is exactly what you need. It’s lightweight, portable, and uses UV LED technology to clean your kiddo’s pacifier in 59 seconds flat.

Even better? The convenient carry case gives you a germ-free spot to stash that pacifier when it’s not in use.
3. ALL THE SNACKS
I know, I know – Disney World is FULL of delicious snacks! Why would you need to bring your own?

Mickey Pretzel
Well, the short and obvious answer is that kids are endlessly and relentlessly hungry. So while packing snacks isn’t exactly unexpected, the sheer AMOUNT of snacks you’ll need probably is.
For the tiniest Disney fans, these Gerber Grain & Grow Puffs are always a hit…

…while these KIND Kids Protein Bars are a healthy choice for toddlers and older kids.

4. Changing Mat Solutions
Changing your baby in a public restroom is never as easy as you’d hope. And even in Disney World – where restrooms are generally kept in very good condition – I’m always worried about protecting my kids from germs and other yucky stuff.

Thankfully, a good changing mat is a game-changer when it comes to public restroom diaper changes!
Opt for an easy-wipe mat, like this PHOEBUS BABY Portable Travel Changing Pad, which not only wipes clean but is also hand-washable with soap and water, so you can clean and disinfect as needed.

Of course, for an extra convenient option, nothing beats these Munchkin Arm & Hammer Disposable Changing Pads!

Just stash a few in your diaper bag each day, and dispose of them after use. You’ll limit germs and bacteria and keep the inside of your diaper bag nice and clean.
5. Electrolytes
As a surprise to absolutely NO ONE, Florida can get hot. Really, really hot. And while staying hydrated is important enough for adults, it’s even more crucial for your little ones.

Water Refill Station
Obviously, you’ll be coming with water bottles in tow. But I also like to have electrolytes on hand, like these convenient Pedialyte Electrolyte Powder Packets.

These packets are SO easy to stash in your diaper bag, and they come in several flavors, like Strawberry, Fruit Punch, Grape, and Apple. They’re also effective for kids AND adults – so the whole family can stay healthy and hydrated!
6. Headphones
If you have children who struggle with noise sensitivity, you’re certainly not alone. Like many adults, small kids are often overwhelmed by the sensory overload they experience inside the parks: booming fireworks, loud or unexpected noises on rides, or even just the persistent din of the crowds.

Fortunately, there’s a simple way to help them through the overwhelm – and it comes in the form of headphones. For infants and toddlers, these Muffy Baby Ear Protectors are a perfect fit…

…while these ZOHAN Noise Cancelling Earphones will fit everyone from small kids to teenagers.

7. Baby Carrier
If you’re headed to Disney World with kids in tow, we KNOW you’re toting a stroller.

Strollers
But if your kids are anything like mine, there WILL come a time when they get sick of sitting and want to be held. Which, of course, is fairly inconvenient for your back and your biceps!
To save yourself some aches and pains (and keep yourself conveniently hands-free), bring along a lightweight baby carrier. My personal favorite is the BabyBjörn Mini Carrier…

…but this Boba Baby Wrap Carrier is the winner when it comes to packability. Just fold it up and stow it in your diaper bag!

8. Extra Clothes – For YOU
It’s no secret that you should bring an extra set of clothes for your baby or toddler. But if your kiddo is prone to spit-up or diaper blowouts, don’t forget an extra set of clothes for you. Seriously, just trust me on this one – you can thank me later!
Personally, I like to opt for something simple and comfortable, like this HiMone Women’s Sundress.

No matter the mess, it covers all the bases – and it won’t take up much space in that park bag.
9. Card Games
Small kids aren’t exactly known for their patience, but with lines for rides, buses, and shows, Disney World requires plenty of it!
Fortunately, waiting for food in table-service restaurants can be more fun than frustrating with just a few simple card games. Obviously, you’ll want to choose games that align with your kids’ ages and interests, but my family’s favorites include Disney Eye Found It…

…and Disney Spot It!

7. The RIGHT Diaper Bag
When it comes to diaper bags, there are THOUSANDS of options – so choosing the right diaper bag is really a matter of preference. Still, it’s important to come prepared with a bag that’s comfortable to carry, easy to organize, and big enough to fit all the things you need.
Personally, I prefer a roomy backpack with lots of compartments, like this RUVALINO Diaper Bag Backpack. It’s durable, waterproof, and even features two insulated bottle pockets.

Whatever you choose, just be sure it’s metal-free, so you can breeze through security without a care.
8. A Secondary Bag
When you’re on the go with your baby, it’s easy to fall into the habit of using your diaper bag as your personal bag. But in Disney World, you won’t want to haul a heavy diaper bag onto every ride or into every attraction.
Instead, bring along a small personal bag, like this adorable Pander Belt Bag.

Photo: Amazon
Use it to stash important personal items like your phone and wallet, which you’ll want to keep on you at all times. Throw the smaller bag in and out of the diaper bag as needed, leaving bulky items behind in the stroller.
Honorable Mention: SlumberPod Sleep Tent
Okay, so this last item isn’t going to fit into your diaper bag, but if you travel frequently with little ones, it’s well worth the splurge!

Photo: Amazon
The SlumberPod The Original Blackout Sleep Tent gives your little one a dark and private place to sleep, even when you’re sharing a room. And since great sleep means a great vacation, I can’t recommend this one enough.
