‘Goosebumps’ Canceled on Disney+ After Two Spooky Seasons
It looks like the haunted stories of Goosebumps have reached their final chapter on Disney+. After just two seasons, the series inspired by R.L. Stine’s bestselling books has officially been canceled, with producers now looking for a new home for the show.

While the series racked up some impressive numbers — with 75 million hours viewed in the U.S. and another 43 million internationally — it appears that Goosebumps may not have been the right fit for the Disney+ platform long term.

Goosebumps featured an anthology-style format, with new characters and chilling mysteries each season. But scary content for kids is a tricky genre, and not always easy to market on a family-first platform like Disney+.

For some fans, the tone of Goosebumps might have felt a little too intense. If you grew up with the original series from the ’90s, you’ll remember it aired on Fox Kids and later reruns on Cartoon Network — and it was legitimately terrifying.
Those old episodes are the reason some of us still get nervous around ventriloquist dummies or unmarked Halloween masks. So when the reboot hit Disney+, some viewers might’ve expected a similar hair-raising scare again.
The new series leaned into the horror, complete with disappearances, creepy creatures, and psychological twists. While it made for compelling television, it may have gone a bit beyond what some families expected from the Disney+ library.

That said, all may not be lost for this eerie franchise. Sony Pictures Television, the studio behind the reboot, is already shopping the series to other networks and exploring different creative directions. So if you’re a fan of spooky stories, Goosebumps might just rise again somewhere new.
