NEWS: Hulu to Be Fully Integrated Into Disney+
Just weeks after closing their deal to purchase Comcast’s stake in Hulu, Disney has announced that it is shaking up its streaming structure.
During The Walt Disney Company’s Q3 earnings call today, CEO Bob Iger announced that Hulu will be fully integrated into Disney+, creating the “one app” streamer that Disney has long envisioned.
“Work is already underway to continue enhancing our technology, and over the coming months, we will be implementing numerous improvements within the Disney+ app, including exciting new features and a more personalized homepage,” Iger explained. “All of this work will culminate with the unified Disney+ and Hulu streaming app experience that will be available to consumers next year.”

With the integration of Hulu in Disney+, Disney believes it will “create an impressive package of entertainment” that will be a “major step forward.”
Finally, according to Iger, the combination of Disney+ and Hulu will make a stronger consumer experience that will lower churn. The integration will also improve Disney’s sales and technological capabilities.
Hulu Will Become a Global General Entertainment Brand
As part of Hulu’s integration into Disney+, the streamer will be reimagined as a “global general entertainment brand” and will replace the Star tile on Disney+ internationally.

While there have long been rumblings that Hulu could expand into an international brand, the streamer has remained a U.S.-only brand. Until today!
Between the launch of ESPN’s streaming app later this fall and the integration of Hulu into Disney+, a new era in Disney streaming is unfolding before our eyes.
