TSA Launches ‘Families on the Fly’ at Orlando International Airport
Traveling in general is stressful, and traveling with kids can be overwhelming! However, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is changing that.
TSA is taking steps to make travel for families easier. This summer, it launched a new initiative at Orlando International Airport (MCO) to support families during airport security.

TSA’s “Families on the Fly” program has created special family lanes at every checkpoint, designed to minimize stress for parents traveling with children.
“We understand that air travel can be challenging, especially for parents managing strollers, diaper bags, and young kids,” said TSA Federal Security Director for Orlando Pete Garcia.
“That’s why we’re excited to launch ‘Families on the Fly’—a dedicated TSA security lane at every checkpoint, tailored for families with children 12 and under. This program goes beyond convenience; it’s about addressing the unique needs of traveling families to provide a smoother, more supportive experience at our security checkpoints. We’re dedicated to making travel smart, secure, and family-friendly.”

Other airports are joining the initiative, including Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, John Wayne Airport Orange County, and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu. TSA plans to expand family lanes to additional airports nationwide soon.
Families can also expect discounted TSA PreCheck fees and lanes available for military service members and their families as the program continues to roll out.

“Families on the Fly” is one of several programs the TSA launched this summer to enhance the travel experience at over 435 airports.
Earlier this month, TSA also introduced the “Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease” campaign, which recognizes military and uniformed service members and their families.

TSA also reminds travelers flying out of Orlando International Airport that military personnel and civilian Department of Defense (DOD) staff are eligible for free TSA PreCheck by using their DOD ID number as their Known Traveler Number when booking travel.
The TSA Cares program remains available to assist passengers with disabilities, medical conditions, or anyone requiring personalized assistance through the security screening process
All of these programs exist to ensure a smoother travel experience for all. To learn more, visit www.tsa.gov/military.
