Disney Celebrates “Golden Girls Day” with New Merch and a TV Special
Disney is thanking you for being a friend! As “The Golden Girls” celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, Disney Entertainment TV is celebrating with new merch and clever tie-ins to the beloved show.

Kicking off “Golden Girls Day” on July 30, fans can celebrate this special friendship with wine, treats, toys, and specialty items.
Big News!
One of the biggest announcements is that the estate of singer-songwriter Andre Gold, who penned the opening number, is allowing his lyrics to appear on the show’s new products.
“We’re excited to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘The Golden Girls’ with a campaign that’s both deeply nostalgic and completely modern,” said Erin Weir, executive vice president of marketing at Disney Entertainment Television.

New Merchandise
Let’s take a look at the new merchandise dropping this August and September. Fans can get this “Thank you for being a Friend” pillow by Furbish Studio, available starting August 19th.

Yogurtland is offering a limited edition cheesecake-flavored yogurt, “Thank you for being a cheesecake,” to celebrate National Cheesecake Day on July 30th.

Candier is offering a limited edition “I’ll get the cheesecake!” and “Thank you for being a friend” candles coming this September.

Now, you can channel the look of your favorite golden girl with a limited edition capsule collection by Zero Waste Daniel, and Nocking Point Wines is launching a wine assortment of four bottles celebrating the show’s four famous characters!

Partnerships and TV Tie-Ins
The company has also partnered with Fisher-Price to create short-form content, “Little People Collector Mini Adventures,” where famous moments from the Golden Girls are reenacted.
In addition, ABC News is airing a one-hour special that features the series creator, Susan Harris, and additional writers and producers.

Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite 2025
Disney actually started celebrating the Golden Girls last month with “The Golden Girls 40th Anniversary Script Reading & Conversation” at the ATX TV festival.
And during Disneyland’s Pride Night last month, guests could participate in numerous Golden Girl activities.

Grab your friends, buy the cheesecake, and head to the lanai! Golden Girls Day is just around the corner on July 30, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate this show.
Originally airing from 1985 to 1992, The Golden Girls was produced by Disney’s Touchstone TV shingle and is now streaming on Hulu and the Hulu on Disney+ bundle.
