Join Us at the D23 Event: Disneyland: Fond Memories of the Past
There are so many perks to being a D23 Member, and one is attending exclusive special events. We recently had the chance to attend a special presentation at the Walt Disney Imagineering Campus in Glendale, and it was amazing.
Disneyland: Fond Memories of the Past was the perfect mix of history and nostalgia that every Disney fan loves. Join us for this special hour-long presentation.
A D23 Special Event
Disneyland: Fond Memories of the Past was a (metaphorical) stroll down Main Street, U.S.A featuring Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline and Disney artist and historian Stacia Martin!
D23 Gold Members were invited to celebrate 70 years of Disneyland with a special presentation that highlighted the park’s early years in the 1950s and 1960s
Signs pointed us where to go, and we got a great look at the Grand Central Creative campus.
To get started, there was a large postcard photo op.
Next, we headed to the Grand Central Air Terminal, where the presentation was held. Before the presentation started, the rooms featured historical exhibits curated by Walt Disney Imagineering.
We grabbed our seats in The Mickey Mouse Club Theater and viewed a few nostalgic photos on screen before the presentation began.

Believe it or not, there is also a shop that sells bras.
Moving on from merchandise and retail, we explored early attractions and experiences. The first years of the Opera House were for promotional purposes, like the movie Babes in Toyland, or for membership in the Mickey Mouse Club.
It was then replaced with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”
Carousel of Progress was later replaced with America Sings. It featured over 100 animatronics.
The Golden Horseshoe is an iconic location initially used mostly for entertainment, but here is a fun fact: It was also the home for Walt and Lily’s wedding anniversary.
The presentation concluded with images of Walt and his opening day speech. The perfect way to conclude this special event and a tribute to its 70 years of magic!
