WATCH: Disneyland’s New Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic Malfunctioned Mid-Show
While the Disneyland 70 celebration has been underway for weeks, the anniversary’s crown jewel premiered today with the opening of Walt Disney — A Magical Life on Main Street, U.S.A.
Housed within the Main Street Opera House, the new attraction celebrates the history of the Disneyland Resort. The story begins in the Main Street Opera House lobby, where guests can explore the Evolution of a Dream exhibit.
After learning about the origins of Disneyland, visitors can also explore the Audio-Animatronic exhibit, which details the history of this medium.

From there, guests watch a pre-show video narrated by Bob Iger, before heading into Walt’s office and hearing from the man himself. That’s right, using Audio-Animatronic technology, Imagineering has returned Walt Disney to Disneyland.
The Animatronic Briefly Malfunctioned
While by and large, the new Walt Disney animatronics’ Disneyland debut has been wildly successful, there was at least one major hitch.

During one performance of Walt Disney — A Magical Life earlier this morning, the Walt Disney animatronic began to malfunction.
Based on a video shared by @anotherpicadventure on Instagram, Walt began to stutter mid-show, before the animatronic broke.

Curtains were quickly closed as the lights dimmed. Luckily, later shows went off without a hitch.
History Repeats Itself
While it is perhaps unsurprising that Disney’s new advanced Audio-Animatronic would have a hiccup, it is also oddly fitting.

If you know your Disneyland history, you know that the original Mr. Lincoln animatronic had an unfortunate mishap when Walt was showing him off to attraction sponsors.
Perhaps then, today’s malfunction was a subtle nod to Audio-Animatronic history. Or, the figure simply broke.
