Tony Gilroy Reacts to 14 Emmy Nominations for ‘Andor’
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 2025 Emmy nominees recently, and Disney’s Andor was well represented.
In total, the Star Wars series earned 14 nominations, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series.
While Diego Luna was perhaps snubbed for his performance as Cassina Andor, his costars Forest Whitaker and Alan Tudyk both received nods.

For Andor creator Tony Gilroy, yesterday was an important day.
“I’m really proud,” Andor series creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy tells StarWars.com. “This is substantial work and a substantial amount of people’s lives went into this. And I really view all these awards as community property on this show. So [executive producer Sanne Wohlenberg] and I are very proud.”
How Gilroy Got the News
Interestingly, Gilroy was not listening live when the nominees were announced. Instead, he was returning from a bike ride when his phone suddenly blew up.

“I had 16 messages. I thought that’s either really good or really bad. Then I started scrolling and trying to figure out what it all meant.”
The Hope
Reflecting on the nominations, Gilroy hopes that the buzz surrounding Andor brings the show to the attention of those outside of the Star Wars fandom.
“More than anything, I just hope it brings more people to watch the show,” Gilroy says. “My hope is that more and more people will watch the show, who think that it might not be for them and find that it is not just for them, but it is important for them.”
