Tropical System Near Florida Could Develop This Week
Rain, storms, and a tropical system! There is a lot of fast-paced weather news this week.
Here is what guests at Disney World and across Central Florida should know about this week’s weather outlook.

Tropical System Watch
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said earlier today that a low-pressure system off Florida’s Atlantic coast remains disorganized. However, it could strengthen into the season’s next tropical depression or named storm.

Meteorologists are watching as it crosses the peninsula and moves into the Gulf of Mexico later this week.
8pm EDT July 14: An area of low pressure off the east Florida Peninsula coast (Invest #93L) now has a medium chance (30%🟡2-day / 40%🟠7-day) of becoming a tropical cyclone as it moves westward into northeastern portion of the Gulf.

As of the NHC’s 8 a.m. update, the disturbance remains centered just offshore along the northeast Florida coast. Floridians are experiencing rounds of showers and storms throughout the state.

Forecastors shared:
This system is forecast to move westward across the Florida Peninsula today and then reach the northeastern Gulf by Wednesday. Environmental conditions appear generally favorable for additional development, and a tropical depression could form while the system moves across the northeastern and north-central Gulf.

If the system strengthens into a named storm, it would be called Tropical Storm Dexter. The NHC currently gives it a 40% chance of development over the next two to seven days.
Regardless of development, there is the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding during the middle to latter portions of this week.

Disney World
Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort this week will experience widespread showers and potential thunderstorms, primarily through Wednesday.
Expect wet conditions on and off throughout the day, and be prepared.

Parts of Central Florida could see 1- 4.5 inches of rain. Forecasters also caution that minor flooding may occur, and stronger storms could bring wind gusts of 40–50 mph. Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. Stay tuned for more weather updates.
