Brian Henson Says Disney Saved ALL Of the Muppet*Vision 3D Animatronics

When Disney announced that Muppet*Vision 3D would be permanently closing on June 7, 2025, after 34 years of operation, the company knew it was a delicate subject.

Over the decades, Muppet*Vision had become revered by generations of fans who continued to make the pilgrimage to the back of Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see Jim Henson’s final project and enjoy some good old-fashioned entertainment.

To salve the wound that the closing of Muppet*Vision inflicted, Disney promised that they were working with the Jim Henson Company to preserve the attraction in some form.

“As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future,” they said.

This final acknowledgment gave Muppet fans hope that somehow the show would return.

No Updates Have Been Forthcoming

Since the announcement last January, however, updates on the preservation process have not been forthcoming. Speaking frankly, it seemed that the best that fans could hope for was that Muppet*Vision would pop up on Disney+.

Now, however, Brian Henson has given fans new reason to hope that the full Muppet*Vision experience could return at some point.

Brian Henson Gives Fans Hope

In a recent interview with Theater Mania, Brian Henson was asked about the closing of Muppet*Vision 3D earlier this year. Admitting that he was “very sad” to see the show close, Henson offered hope that the show could return.

“They wrapped it up in the way Disney does, where everything is recorded for historical purposes and all the animatronics are packed away perfectly. So, theoretically, they could bring it back out if they wanted to at some point,” he said.

While Henson’s comments do not necessarily mean that Disney has any future plans for Muppet*Vision, his statement about the Audio-Animatronics is interesting.

Traditionally, the Walt Disney Archives chooses select figures from attractions to preserve. It would be unusual if Disney chose to save all the Audio-Animatronics.

If this is indeed the case, it could mean that Disney has future plans for the attraction to return at some point.

Again, this is all conjecture. At this point, a Disney+ release remains the most likely outcome.

Still, as a Muppet fan, it is hard to read Henson’s latest comments and hope.
