The Long-Gestating ‘Scrubs’ Revival Is Coming to ABC This Fall
The long-gestating Scrubs revival is officially a go as ABC has ordered the series for its 2025-2026 lineup.
According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the revival will see Zach Braff reprise his role as John “JD” Dorian, Donald Faison return as Christopher Turk, and Sarah Chalke come back as Elliot Reid.
All three returning stars will be executive producers on the show.

“JD and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time. Medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way,” the revival’s synopsis reads.
The Status of Bill Lawrence
The big hurdle for the Scrubs revival to clear was the involvement of series creator Bill Lawrence, who has an overall deal with Warner Bros. TV. Eventually, he negotiated an agreement that would allow him to serve as executive producer on Scrubs, but not as the showrunner.

“Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together,” Lawrence said in a statement.
In lieu of Lawrence, Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, who served as writers and producers on the original series, will assume showrunning duties.

They will also executive produce alongside Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Lawrence, Braff, Faison, and Chalke.
‘Scrubs’ Returns to ABC
For those who may not know, Scrubs was produced by ABC for its entire nine-season run from 2001 through 2010. Despite this, the first seven seasons of the show aired on NBC. The show then moved to ABC for seasons 8 and 9.
Now the series will continue on ABC.
