We’re Halfway to Christmas…
Don’t let the calendar fool you!
Sure, you’re probably dripping with sweat right now as the blistering heat overwhelms your senses.

I’m guessing you’re sitting beside the fan, relishing the relief of this cool arctic blast in the face of extreme summer temperatures.
But this, too, shall pass. Not too long from now, you’ll be wearing an ugly sweater, sipping hot cocoa, and wishing for warmer weather.
This behavior is cyclical, just as it’s inevitable. During the winter, we fantasize about warm summer days.
Then, at times like today, when we notice a triple-digit heat index, we wish for a colder tomorrow.
Fortunately, winter is coming! Friends, we’re halfway to Christmas. So, it’s time to start thinking about your Walt Disney World vacation.
Why Christmas at Disney
For many tourists, spending Christmas at Walt Disney World is a family tradition.
I have several friends who have explained how and why their families started to do this, and the rationale makes perfect sense.

Each year, the holiday season doubles as the “catching up with loved ones” season.
We use our ample December vacation time to visit family members we haven’t seen enough throughout the year.

The “problem” with this behavior is that one person/family bears the burden of hosting duties.
I don’t need to tell you what that responsibility means, but I’ll remind you just in case it’s been a while.
You must stock your refrigerator with all the supplies that your loved ones will expect.
That’s a long list at any point during the year, but it grows even longer during the holidays.

Now, you need some mix of colorful cookies, yule logs, eggnog, peppermint bark, hot cocoa, holiday trail mix, sufganiyah, candy canes, and charcuterie boards.
That’s on top of the standard turkey, ham, and chips that people expect.
Also, you’ll probably need some mulled wine or some other form(s) of alcohol.
Then, we have the preparation and clean-up phases, the two things that explain why I try never to host anything.
Preparing for guests is a multi-hour thing, and it’s a constant cycle in December due to surprise announcement drop-ins.
You never know who will be in town during the holidays. And once they leave your home, well, it can get messy.

That goes double if presents are exchanged. Wrapping paper seemingly multiples during the holidays.
So, thinking about all of that, how does vacationing at Disney during the holidays sound?

The beauty of a Disney vacation is that it liberates EVERYONE from that stress.
As the host/hostess, you no longer need to moonlight as a caterer and housekeeper in December.

Disney will make all the food for you, and the kindly Cast Members will clean up after you and yours when you leave.
As someone who is usually the invited guest — I fall into this category — you no longer carry the guilt of causing your loved one stress.

We all know what it’s like to visit someone during the holidays. There’s an underlying guilt, especially if you eat or drink a lot or use the restroom.
Nobody wants to make a mess in a loved one’s home, but if you’re anything like me, well, entire potato chips don’t always go in the mouth.

At Disney, you don’t need to worry about crumbs or accidentally dropping something that breaks or having a plumbing incident.
Disney will take care of everything for you and yours. And you would be SHOCKED how much people value that liberty.

I know this because I track Disney attendance every week, and I can say something with complete sincerity.
Walt Disney World theme parks sell out during Christmas Week more than the rest of the year combined.

You may not even know that a theme park CAN sell out! Somehow, Magic Kingdom often reaches maximum occupancy, though.
When someone’s options are Main Street, U.S.A. or cooking and cleaning for unexpected guests at home, the choice is clear.

Disney liberates all families from the tyranny of holiday chaos. All we must do at Disney is enjoy ourselves.
And that’s going to happen no matter what because it’s Disney!
Changes at Disney This Christmas

This Christmas will be unlike any other at Walt Disney World. That’s true for several reasons.
The first is that Disney is currently undergoing a historic transformation, with several attractions permanently closing.

Disney will replace them with other, vastly superior attractions and experiences in the coming years.
Still, you’re probably wondering what the parks will look like during all this change.

Over the last few years, Disney has listened to tourists and gravitated toward a new trend.
Now, Disney theme parks are all about the vibes. During popular tourism seasons, Disney’s pulling out all the stops.

Most importantly, you’ll share the experience with your loved ones. And there’s nothing better than a destination vacation with family.

How serious am I about this? I have a friend who has 18 (!) members of his family meet at Disney every Christmas Week.
