Disney Has Plans For a ‘Night at the Museum’ Reboot
After years of lying dormant, 20th Century Studios’ Night at the Museum franchise is getting set to return in a big way.
According to a new report from Deadline, 21 Laps has begun developing a reboot of the wildly popular film franchise, with Tripper Clancy set to write the script.

Unlike previous installments in the franchise, the upcoming reboot will not be set in the American Museum of Natural History. Additionally, the new project will feature a different cast of characters.
‘Night at the Museum’
An adaptation of a 1993 children’s book by Milan Trenc, 2006’s Night at the Museum was an undeniable box office hit. The film was able to leverage its whimsical story and star-studded cast to a $574 million theatrical run.

Subsequently, 20th Century released two sequels for the film, 2009’s Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and 2014’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Lost Tomb.
Additionally, after Disney acquired Fox in 2019, the studio released an animated feature titled Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again to Disney+. Despite the animated film, Disney has largely failed to capitalize on its purchase of the popular family film franchise.

Now, it looks like another theatrical film is on the way.
Shawn Levy Will Produce
The upcoming Night at the Museum 4 will be produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine for 21 Laps, with Emily Morris overseeing the production for 20th Century Studios.
