New Magic Kingdom Map Removes Rivers of America and Teases Disney Starlight
A new chapter in Magic Kingdom history began before our eyes yesterday, when the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island both permanently closed to make way for Piston Peak, the new Cars land coming to Walt Disney World.
For over five decades, the Rivers of America have served as the beating heart of Walt Disney World’s flagship park, setting the stage for an infinite number of adventures and memories.
Yesterday, we reported live from Magic Kingdom as we celebrated Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat one last time.

Now, we are beginning to look ahead.
A New Magic Kingdom Map Has Arrived
As Disney begins construction on Piston Peak, a new Magic Kingdom map has debuted at the park.

The big change to the map is the removal of the Rivers of America, which has been replaced by a digitally altered green expanse.

Both the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have also been removed from the Magic Kingdom’s attraction list.

Here is another look.

Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away
In addition to the Frontierland and Liberty Square changes, the new Magic Kingdom map also highlights the upcoming debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away.

Originally announced at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, the new procession will build on the legacy of the Main Street Electrical Parade while also using the latest technology to tell classic Disney stories.
The procession will officially debut on July 20.
Needless to say, there is a lot to look forward to at Magic Kingdom.
