Disney Spots Where You Should Put Down Your Phone
“You’re at Disney. Put down your phone and look.”
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen and heard that criticism from fellow Disney fans.

Disney
To be clear, the request wasn’t directed at me, as I’m more of a tablet guy…and those aren’t convenient at theme parks.
Instead, the phone request works as a clarion call among old-school Disney fans who want to roll back the clock.

Disney
These folks believe that Disney visits were better before park guests could do everything on their phones.
While I don’t necessarily agree with that blanket statement, it’s definitely right at times.

Disney
Here are some places where you should put your phone down at Disney and savor the moment.
Avatar Flight of Passage

An Ilm can be spotted on Avatar: Flight of Passage
Since you’ll wait at least an hour and possibly two while standing in line here, I understand the temptation.
I’ll acknowledge that I’ve even fallen victim to it at times. In my defense, I’ve ridden this one a lot.

So, I already know all the details about the immersive line queue for Avatar Flight of Passage.
When you move through the line queue, you’ll experience centuries of Pandoran history.

Some of the sequences highlight technology and innovation, while others show the vegetation.
Imagineers tell a story in this line, something you won’t understand unless you put your phone down and pay attention.
Disney Starlight
Technically, you can’t even do this yet, but I’m adding it anyway.
After all, Disney rarely introduces new nighttime entertainment, and we haven’t had a new Magic Kingdom parade in ages.

So, when Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away debuts later this month, it deserves your complete focus.
Checking your phone while you’re waiting 45 minutes for the parade to start is fully encouraged, though.
Frozen Ever After

Frozen Ever After
During the pandemic, the lines at Frozen Ever After were historically small for…reasons.
Thanks to social distancing, I had ample time and space to take lots of pictures.

That’s when I realized a simple truth. Frozen Ever After is even better than any of us had realized.
Disney has captured the spirit of Arendelle and brought it to life at the Norway pavilion.

When you’re standing in line here, you can watch it all unfold and better appreciate every authentic detail.
(And yes, I recognize the irony that I was using my phone the whole time I was standing in line. I did it for you!)
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Disney
This attraction’s line queue differs, depending on whether you have a Lightning Lane.
Still, I presume that you’ll explore quite a bit of the Wonders of Xandar pavilion during your visit.

Cosmic Rewind
By paying attention, you’ll realize just how much story Disney has seeded into this building.
It’s like a Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy compendium disguised as a visitor center for tourists.
Then, when you enter the two theater areas, you should watch closely for all sorts of Marvel Easter eggs.
Disney spent big money to hire the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, and they’re clearly having a blast.
Haunted Mansion
From the moment you enter the Haunted Mansion line queue, you should keep your head on a swivel.
You never know when there might be a murder mystery to solve or musical instruments to play.

Candle Man
Later, when you enter the Stretching Room, you must look alive to guarantee that you survive the chamber with no windows or doors.
When you’re awaiting your Doom Buggy, you should pay attention to every sight gag, pun, and spooky sight in your surroundings.

Disney has populated the entire Haunted Mansion campus with tons of goodies, all of which justify your attention.
Rodeo Roundup BBQ

Here’s a restaurant that takes you inside the world of Toy Story.
Specifically, you visit a place that looks like a fever dream of Woody and Buzz.

You shrink down to the size of toys and explore a western rodeo setting perfectly on brand for Woody and Jessie.
Shenanigans are afoot throughout the restaurant, forcing you to pay attention to your surroundings.

Otherwise, you may get caught off guard by one of the gags. You never know when Andy’s coming!
Space 220
When you first enter the Stellarvater at Space 220, you should know that you’re in Kansas anymore.
Specifically, the space elevator thrusts you 220 miles above the planet’s surface, providing you with an alien’s view of Earth.

Space 220
During your meal, the digital screens behind you immerse you in the illusion that you’re on a space station.
Astronauts and (I guess?) their dogs and a few robots fly around outside the ship, offering permanent distractions.

Entrance – Space 220
This is one of the most visually interesting spots at Walt Disney World, and the video loop on the wall is mesmerizing.
Still, this one comes with a caveat. The visuals here will loop after about 30-45 minutes.
So, I fully understand if you don’t watch to catch the reruns, although I can assure you that I watch the whole thing.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
This one should be common sense, yet it’s one of the places where I notice people using their phones the most.
I’m honestly not trying to judge here, as I know that we all have our habits and quirks.

Still, the line queue for Rise of the Resistance remains squarely in the conversation for the best thing Disney’s ever done.
You’ll notice so many fabulous Star Wars touches, ones so good you don’t even need to be a fan to enjoy.
The world-building here tells an entire story about how The Resistance and The First Order operate.
Plus, there’s the quirk that the lines blur regarding what the start of the attraction is.
Rise of the Resistance is a full 20-minute experience.
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

Finally, we have the best place to get a drink at Walt Disney World.
Trader Sam’s is less a drinking establishment and more a place to unlock a world of limitless possibilities.
Many of the drinks here do tricks, lighting up the intentionally dark bar to enhance the vibe.
When you’re at Trader Sam’s, all that matters is the experience. You should be all-in on that.
