Disney Legend Lea Salonga To Receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Lea Salonga, the star of stage and screen who gave voice to two of Disney’s most iconic characters, will soon be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Born February 22, 1971, in the Philippines, Lea made her stage debut at age 7 in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I. After appearing in a series of productions in her home country, Salonga began her recording career and even hosted her own television show.
Her big break, however, would come on the West End Stage where she played Kim in a 1989 production of Miss Saigon.

When the show moved to Broadway in 1991, Salonga made the trip to the United States.
Voicing Jasmine and Mulan
At this time, Salonga was cast as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin.
“‘A Whole New World’ is a great song,” Lea once said, “and it’s a dream come true to be a part of a Disney animated film.”

Years later, Salonga would be called again to provide the voice of a Disney heroine, this time providing the singing voice of Fa Mulan in Disney’s Mulan. She would reprise her role in Mulan II.
Salonga Reacts to Her Latest Honor
For her contributions to The Walt Disney Company, Salonga was named a Disney Legend in 2011. Now, she is being honored with another award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
After learning that she would be receiving a Walk of Fame star, Salonga took to Instagram to share her thanks.
