Jon Favreau’s ‘Oswald the Lucky Rabbit’ Series Finds Its Leads
Over the past two decades, there may not be a filmmaker more critical to Disney’s success than Jon Favreau.
Directing 2008’s Iron Man, Favreau would launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), helping create one of the definitive franchises in pop culture history.
From there, the filmmaker seamlessly transitioned to Star Wars, where he created The Mandalorian, a series that was not only beloved by fans but also became the cornerstone for the launch of Disney+

Finally, Favreau broke new creative ground with his photorealistic remake of The Jungle Book. Building on that film’s success, he delivered 2019’s The Lion King, which would eventually gross over $1.6 billion at the box office.
Next, the filmmaker has his sights set on one of Disney’s most important characters.
‘Oswald the Lucky Rabbit’
As we reported earlier this year, Jon Favreau is developing an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series for Disney+.
The new project is expected to blend animation and live-action to bring one of Disney’s foundational characters back to the spotlight.

Now, we have a new update on the series.
Favreau Finds His Leads
According to a new report from Deadline, three young stars have joined Favreau’s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series.
Ravi Cabot-Conyers (perhaps best known for his lead role in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) will play Jake, who is described as a “hardworking middle school student with a big heart.”

Mykal-Michelle Harris (Ariel, Ravens Home) will play Jen, an artistic middle schooler who is always ahead of the game.

Finally, Ryder Allen will play Taylor, a middle school student who is cautious but avoids turning down friends.

Bob Iger and Oswald
When Bob Iger first ascended to the role of Disney CEO, he quickly set about bringing Oswald back home to the company.
Now, as his tenure at the helm of Disney comes to an end, Oswald is getting a chance to shine in his own series.

I, for one, can’t wait to see what Disney and Favreau cook up.
