Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke Misses Fan Event Due to Unspecified Illness
Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke was forced to miss one of his Vandy Camp fan events this week due to an unspecificied illness.
For those who don’t know, Vandy Camp is an intimate fan festival created by Van Dyke and his wife, Arlene Silver. Traditionally, the event features live performances, on-stage conversations, Q&A sessions, and a performance by the couple’s a cappella group The Vantastix.

This week’s event was held at the Arelene & Dick Van Dyke Theatre at Malibu High School.
Van Dyke Was Unable to Attend
Taking the stage in front of the gathered fans, Arlene introduced herself as “not the Van Dyke you were expecting,” before explaining that “when you’re 99½ years old, you have good days and bad days … and unfortunately, today is not a good day for him.”

While fans were understandably disappointed that Van Dyke could not attend the event, the show went on.
“All of the people at the event were so kind and amazing. Many had flown in from around the world and country. I did fly in from the Bay Area,” attendee Christy Vaca explained on Facebook. “It turned into everyone sending amazing messages to Dick Van [Dyke] who was watching at home. He means so much to us all.”
The Hollywood Legend Has Remained Active
As Van Dyke nears his 100th birthday, the Hollywood legend has continued to make regular appearances on both television and at fan events.

Hopefully, he feels better and can attend the next Vandy Camp. As always, his fans are rooting for him.
