Walt Disney World Announces Three Upcoming Refurbishments
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that 2025 has largely been a year of transition at Walt Disney World.
While the resort has had its fair share of new attraction openings, the biggest news has been closures. So far this year, we have seen the closure of Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama and the end of Muppet*Vision 3D.
Soon, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be demolished.

Against the backdrop of these large-scale projects, Disney World has now announced three other upcoming refurbishments.
Spaceship Earth
On August 25, Spaceship Earth will close for renovations.
This will not be the overhaul of the attraction that was previously promised, but instead routine maintenance.
The attraction is expected to reopen later this year.
Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
Speaking of routine refurbishments, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid will close for routine refurbishment on July 21.

Luckily, the attraction won’t be closed for long, and it will reopen on July 26.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Finally, the highly anticipated Buzz Light Year’s Space Ranger Spin refurbishment will kick off on August 4.

During the closure, the attraction will receive a new show scene, updated vehicles, and other gameplay enhancements.
At this time, Disney has not announced a reopening date, but the attraction is expected to open in 2026.
