Construction on Disneyland Resort’s New ‘Coco’ Attraction Will Begin Soon
Disneyland fans got quite the surprise last year when Disney announced that the first-ever Coco ride was coming to Disney’s California Adventure.
Initially revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the attraction will draw inspiration from classic Disney dark rides such as Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean to transport guests to the land of the dead.

There, they will come face to face with skeletons that, according to Disney Experiences Chairmain Josh D’Amaro, will “appear in ways you’ll have to see to believe.”
Where Will the Attraction Be Located?
Earlier this month, Disney announced that the new Coco attraction will be situated near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, in a space previously used for backstage activities.

While Disney initially announced that work on the new ride would begin in 2026, it now looks like they are getting a jump start on the project.
Construction Will Begin Shortly
According to a new report from the OC Register, construction on the new Coco attraction will begin shortly, as Walt Disney Imagineering has submitted early plans for the construction with the Anaheim Public Works department.
The development is focused on a backstage area between Disneyland Drive, Katella Avenue, Downtown Drive, and the back of the Incredicoaster.

Construction of the attraction will necessitate work on the sidewalks, curbs, and landscaping along Disneyland Drive and Katella Avenue.
When Will the Coco Ride Open
At this time, Disneyland has not announced the opening date for the new Coco attraction. Based on the construction timeline, however, it seems like a 2027 or 2028 opening is in our future.
