Disney Files Three New Permits For New Tropical Americas Land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that we have been closely following the development of the Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Originally teased at 2023’s Destination D23, the new Tropical Americas land will transport guests to Pueblo Esperanza, where they can experience a Disney animal carousel, an Encanto boat ride, and an Indiana Jones attraction.
While construction on the new land officially began last January, the upcoming closure of The Boneyard and DINOSAUR will accelerate the process.

To that end, Disney has filed three permits related to the project. Here is what we learned!
Construction Will Soon Expand to Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures
The three new permits call for general construction and area development, assigning the tasks to Whiting-Turner.

Over the next couple of months, work will likely begin on transforming Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures into its next iteration.
Additionally, the work that we previously saw begin backstage will move into the former Dino-Rama area.
With the back section of DinoLand, U.S.A. set to remain open through the end of the year, we likely won’t see a significant expansion of work until then.
Tropical Americas Will Open in 2027
Still, Tropical Americas is expected to open in 2027, so Disney is doing everything it can to make progress. It looks like construction will ramp up before DinoLand officially closes.
