Why Florida Might Be Cooler Than Your Home State This Week
If you’re heading to Walt Disney World and bracing for the Florida heat, you might be surprised to learn that you might actually be escaping the worst of it.
Don’t get me wrong, it is hot and humid, but so is most of the country right now.

While Central Florida is no stranger to this, much of the Midwest and eastern United States is currently under a massive heat dome and experiencing record-breaking temperatures!
Massive Heat Wave
Cities including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago are experiencing record daily highs in the 90s and even 100s. Add in humidity and it feels like temps up to 110 degrees.

Disney
That’s actually hotter than your standard July day in Orlando.
Disney World is reaching the upper 80s and low 90s this week, but believe it or not, this week it might feel more bearable in Orlando than in some northern cities used to milder June temps.

The heat in central Florida is expected, and for the most part, we have the infrastructure to handle it, especially at Disney World. Shaded queues, plentiful air conditioning, cooling fans, and water attractions help manage the sun and heat.
The National Weather Service has issued extreme heat warnings, watches, and heat advisories for large areas of the central and eastern US. These alerts indicate that heat illnesses are expected to spike.

Be sure to stay safe this summer. Stay hydrated, take midday breaks indoors, and drink more water than usual.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting Walt Disney World, treat yourself to an extra DOLE Whip or Mickey bar!
