Disney Will Introduce Virtual “Concession Stands” and “Storefronts” On Its Streaming Platforms
As Disney continues to develop its streaming technology, the company is continually looking for new ways to improve the customer experience and leverage its synergistic power.
Earlier this week, we announced that Disney was teaming up with Amazon to help advertisers reach their target audience. Now, the company wants to blur the lines between streaming and shopping.

According to a new report from Variety, Disney wants to add new virtual “storefronts” to its streaming services, allowing viewers to order snacks or content-related products while watching their favorite shows.
Disney Plans to Create Virtual Storefronts
Both Disney and its streaming competitors have made it clear that offering users the ability to shop for items related to the shows they are watching is an integral part of the medium’s future.
In Disney’s case, the company is teaming up with ad-tech startup Shopsense to create new virtual storefronts linked to commercials on their streaming platforms.

Viewers will also be able to purchase products tied to the series, movies, or sports they are watching.
Virtual Concession Stands
Additionally, Disney is partnering with Gopuff to create a virtual concession stand, allowing users to order snacks, drinks, and candy while streaming.

“I’m excited to see streaming ads finally being optimized for streaming, rather than just replicating the linear experience,” said Jamie Power, senior vice president of addressable sales for Disney, in a statement. “Advertisers are recognizing the shift. By connecting retail media signals to our content, we’re helping brands create more personal, actionable and measurable experiences — enabling shoppable storytelling and delivering solutions that truly move the needle.

The Walt Disney Company
As Disney continues to improve its streaming technology, one thing has become clear: the company has only scratched the surface of its capabilities.
