BREAKING: Disney Cruise Line Slashes Deposit Policy
Big news was just announced by Disney Cruise Line. This should be a welcome change to many families.
Beginning today, June 18, 2025, Disney Cruise Line has lowered its longstanding deposit for new cruise bookings from 20% to 10%. That’s correct! The deposit to book a Disney cruise is now only 10% of the voyage fare.

Deposit Cut by 50%
This is great news for families who want to put down less money to book their Disney cruise. This allows them to make a smaller initial deposit which can certainly help with the financial planning.
Any DCL cruises currently booked before today, the 20% deposit they have put down remains in place.

Concierge staterooms will still have a non-refundable deposit policy so nothing changes with that.
Placeholder Deposits
For Disney Cruise Line “Placeholder deposits” there will be a reduced deposit due of 5% for sailings seven nights or longer. This is a reduced deposit amount from 10% for placeholder deposits.

While a three-day hold policy for new bookings remains in place, any placeholder conversions (when a guest converts their placeholder into a booking), the three-day hold policy no longer exists. At that point, the deposit is due with no holds allowed.
This is a big and exciting change in DCL’s deposit policy. We assume many guests will welcome not having to put as much money down to book their Disney cruise.
