The Boneyard to Permanently Close in September at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
It’s an exciting time at Disney World right now, with a new lounge just opening up, some big refurbishments happening, and Cool Kid Summer in full swing. There’s also a lot of work happening over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom as DinoLand U.S.A. undergoes its big transformation.
And, we just found out about what’s going to be transformed next in the land!
The Boneyard Closing Date
The Boneyard will be closing on September 2nd this year, according to Scott Gustin on X. So, if you want to experience this kids’ play area before it’s gone, make sure to get there by September 1st!
The closure is due to Disney re-theming DinoLand U.S.A. to Tropical Americas. The transformation has already begun, with much of the land under construction.
Don’t worry, though — Disney has confirmed that the new land will have a kids’ play area when it opens in 2027.
NEW: Sept. 1 is last day to experience The Boneyard at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The area will permanently close on Sept. 2 to make way for Tropical Americas construction.

So, after The Boneyard is closed, the land will primarily consist of the Dinosaur attraction, Restaurantosaurus, and the area where you can meet characters like Donald Duck and Chip ‘n’ Dale. Dinosaur will not close until 2026, so there’s still plenty of time to go get that dino!
