Now, Disney is once again being recognized for their efforts.
The Blue Circle Award
Disney Cruise Line has been awarded the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s 2024 Blue Circle Award in recognition of its ongoing commitment to sustainability.
The Cruise Line has won the Blue Circle Award for 12 years running. That is every year that the Disney Wonder has called the port home.

The award celebrates Disney’s participation in the port’s EcoAction Program, which encourages the use of innovative technologies to minimize the region’s environmental impact.
Environmental Initiatives
Among the initiatives that Disney Wonder utilizes to reduce emissions and minimize waste is the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) as part of its strategy to reduce emissions.

The ship also reduces emissions by utilizing the port’s shore power technology.
“Shore power allows cruise ships to turn off their engines while docked and ‘plug in’ to the port’s power source to run all onboard systems as normal. By connecting to shore power, the Disney Wonder saves fuel and reduces air emissions,” Disney explained.
