Asteria, a Storyliving by Disney Community Reaches Major Milestone
Even as the Walt Disney Company prepares to welcome residents to Cotino, a Storyliving by Disney community located in California, a second Storyliving project is underway in North Carolina.
The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners has approved the first phase of Disney’s plans to open Asteria in Chatham County, North Carolina. Construction workers are now working to prepare the ground for construction.
Inspired by the spirit of discovery, the new master-planned community will give residents access to big-city amenities and the charm of small-town living.

“Here, future residents can learn and grow, bringing a touch of Disney magic into their everyday lives in a way that only Storyliving by Disney communities can,” Disney has teased.
The First Phase Has Begun
When completed, Asteria will consist of more than 4,000 residential units, including family and multi-family homes. Some residences will also be earmarked for those over the age of 55.

According to a new report from Spectrum News, the first phase of Asteria construction will cover 200 acres. When complete, the entire project will span 1,500 acres.
Along with the new residents, the residents of Pittsboro are expecting other benefits for their community.

“You know, for the people of Pittsboro, it’s just going to be a great thing for the growth of this community. And that’s going to be important, for our kids and just funding of different things that we have going on here in the community,” one business owner told Spectrum.
Home Sales Will Begin in 2027
While Disney has not announced an opening date for Asteria, homes are expected to go on sale in 2027.
