New Concept Art Reveals Changes to Disney’s Future Monstropolis Land
Just days after Muppet*Vision 3D and the rest of Muppets Courtyard officially closed, Disney is already starting work on Monstropolis.
Earlier this morning, we brought you the news that construction walls had gone up around the Muppet-themed area, teasing the new Monsters, Inc. land that will soon call Disney’s Hollywood Studios Home.
Originally announced at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the new Monsters, Inc. land will transport guests to Monstropolis, where they can ride the Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster.

While Disney is still moving full steam ahead with these plans, it now looks like some of the details of the new land have changed.
Updated Concept Art Shows Numerous Changes
On the construction walls outside Muppet Courtyard, has new concept art of the new Monsters, Inc. area has been posted.

Comparing the new layout to the original concept art, there have clearly been a few changes.
For starters, the large gate that previously separated Grand Avenue from Monstropolis has been removed.

Additionally, area’s fountain has been redesigned and now looks like the current Muppet Fountain without Miss Piggy.
Other notable changes include the removal of a billboard, a name change of the area’s theater to “The Glob,” a new area behind Harryhausen’s, and a courtyard space in front of the rollercoaster entrance.
The Land’s Layout Continues to Develop
It should be noted that Disney has not announced any changes to its Monstropolis plans.
Instead, the new concept art likely shows another stage in the area’s development and a better depiction of what fans can expect.
