New info was just revealed today around this popular series on Disney+. Andor cost $650 million to make, and Tony Gilroy made every cent count.

The show, which ran for two seasons (one in 2022 and the other in 2025), wrapped up last month and left behind a legacy of fans and a pretty big price tag.
Budget Reveal
The Walt Disney Company did not comment on the budget reveal. Season two production of Andor was paused due to the Hollywood strikes, and an unidentified source for Variety shared that the Guild Strikes added approximately $20 million in shutdown costs to the original budget.
The episodes cost an estimated $20 million after tax incentives, which is comparable to the costs of other popular shows like House of the Dragon and Severance.
Pushing Boundaries

Gilroy admits to challenges with the production and pushing Disney’s boundaries. He pulled back on using expletives in the season one finale, but was able to utilize darker topics, including genocide and assaults, in the show’s second season without Disney interfering.
Gilroy also shared during the panel session that he purposefully started Andor with a scene set in a brothel to truly test the limits for Disney.

From his previous experience on Rogue One, he knew the permissible levels of violence, and the rules were loosening up.
