Disney Files New Permit For Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
As crazy as it sounds, it has been 27 years since Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin opened in Magic Kingdom.
While the attraction has remained popular over that time, both dark ride technology and the video game industry have made great strides. With the opening of Toy Story Mania, Space Ranger Spin’s age became even more noticeable.
Thankfully, earlier this year, Walt Disney World announced that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin would be undergoing a refurbishment. This August, the attraction will receive new ride vehicles, gameplay enhancements, and a brand-new scene.

Among the updates in store for the attraction are new video in-vehicle monitors, real-time scoring updates, and the ability to pick up your blaster! The static “Z” targets found throughout the attraction will also be updated with new technology that allows them to react and light up when hit.
Finally, the attraction will feature a new scene and introduce a new character.

Needless to say, fans are excited.
A New Permit Has Been Filed
Today, Disney filed a new permit for the upcoming Space Ranger Spin renovations, as the attraction is set to close for refurbishment in August.
The new permit calls for electrical work and assigns the job to Elite A/V System Inc.

When Will the Refurbishment Take Place
At this time, Disney has not announced a closing date for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. We do know, however, that the refurbishment will take place this August.
